The Wausau West Solar Olympics Team received medals in 7 out of 8 events and placed third overall in the 22nd Annual Solar Olympics competition held at UW-Stevens Point! Solar Olympics is a renewable energy competition for participating SolarWise® schools. Students participate in a variety of challenges, such as solar t-shirt design and the ever-popular solar car competition. Solar Olympics gives students the opportunity to learn about solar energy by direct, hands-on experience, and gain experience in project management and teamwork.

The West High School team is led by advisor Carla Gerstenberger. The team would also like to thank Mr. Nelson, Mr. Theran Peterson, Mrs. Groshek, Mr. Quinn, Mr. Janssen, and the Art Department for assisting these students with their projects.
