Our district’s strategic goals have been set, and our priority areas for 2017-18 have been identified. This year, we need to achieve more than one year’s worth of academic growth for students. We need to close achievement gaps between groups of students. We need to improve student attendance. We need to incentivize students to participate in school clubs and extracurricular activities.

Reread the first paragraph while reflecting on who you believe is referred to by "our" and "we." Who will assist our students in achieving more than one year’s worth of academic growth within a single school year? Who will assist our students in closing achievement gaps? Who will ensure student attendance improves, and student participation in school clubs and extracurricular activities increases? If we all work together, we will advance student learning, achievement and success in the Wausau School District.

We will all work toward these common ends because we all have something in common: Someone taught for us. And no matter our age, someone continues to teach for us. The Wausau School District embraces #Teach4Me — a lens with many angles. #Teach4Me represents, and is powered by, continuous improvement and disruptive innovation. Take a moment and think about what #Teach4Me means to you and recall those who have taught for you. Now imagine, if you will, what #Teach4Me means to students, parents, community partners, taxpayers, colleagues, and the list goes on. #Teach4Me means so many things to so many people. #Teach4Me is motivational and inspiring while recognizing that:

Our Enemy Is Ambiguity

Our Uncertainty Is Certain

Our Fear Is Okay

Our Vision Is Clear

Our Goals Are Few

Our Resources Are In Place

Our Collaboration Is Clear

Our Direction is Determined

Our People Are Committed

Our Actions Are Many

Our Passion Is Palpable

Our Checkpoints Are Often

Our Determination Is Secure

Our Celebrations Are Ensured

And one goal unites us all — #Teach4Me
