
John Kozlovich, Wausau West Social Studies teacher, had enriching professional development experiences this summer. Through the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, Mr. Kozlovich was chosen to participate in a seminar on Thomas Jefferson and the European Enlightenment at the University of Edinburgh in Edinburgh, Scotland. The coursework was taught and facilitated by Dr. Frank Cogliano, scholar and author of several books on Jefferson's life and presidency. Activities included analyzing of primary and secondary documents, collaboration with educators from throughout the nation, walking tours of historic Edinburgh, as well as designing lesson plans for classroom implementation.
Mr. Kozlovich also received a scholarship funded by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation to attend the 28th annual Colonial Wiliamsburg Teacher Institute in historic Williamsburg, Virginia, He collaborated with educators from throughout the nation on content relating to a wide range of American History and went on guided tours to nearby Richmond and historic Jamestown, Virginia.
